Traveling Chemist - CDL B

The National TS Chemist is a field‑based technical expert who provides relief coverage at multiple client locations across the region or country. This role performs hazardous waste identification, segregation, packaging, stabilization, documentation, and shipment preparation in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
The Travel Chemist is deployed to sites experiencing staffing shortages, increased workload, or special project needs. This role requires significant weekly travel, adaptability to different client environments, and strong communication skills to maintain consistent service quality across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hazardous waste identification, segregation, consolidation, packaging, and shipment preparation in accordance with DOT, EPA, and Tradebe standards.
- Travel to assigned client sites to provide temporary or relief chemist support, often with short notice.
- Quickly adapt to varying site layouts, waste streams, client expectations, and operational procedures.
- Maintain proactive communication with client contacts and internal teams to ensure smooth daily operations and anticipate service needs.
- Consolidate chemicals from labs and generating departments following proper compatibility and segregation guidelines.
- Ensure all containers are properly labeled with required DOT/EPA/TSD information.
- Understand and apply site‑specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements.
- Maintain adequate inventory of PPE, labels, shipping documents, and other operational supplies while traveling.
- Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to promote a safe work environment.
- Support additional sites as needed for emergency coverage, special projects, or operational surges.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Do you have what it takes?
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or other related science or the equivalent in relevant field experience
Experience:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience/internship with lab packing, chemical stabilization, or regulatory compliance activities is required
- Experience with waste management processes such as waste collection, satellite accumulation area management, 90‑day storage area management, waste profiling, chemical segregation, and waste disposal technologies.
- Prior experience in field‑based or travel‑based technical roles.
- Strong customer service skills and comfort working in diverse client environments.
- Ability to travel up to 100% of the time, Monday–Friday.
- Ability to wear a full‑face respirator.
- Ability to work onsite daily at various client locations.
- Ability to work the assigned schedule and adapt to changing site needs.
- Valid Drivers License
- Must obtain a CDL‑B license within 6–12 months of hire; Tradebe provides company‑paid training and support to complete this requirement.
