We are seeking a Director of Operations to lead and grow our environmental services operations across three strategic locations—Tennessee, Louisiana, and Alabama. This role carries full P&L ownership and is responsible for advancing performance and profitability in Waste Water Treatment, Marine Fueling, and Landfill Operations.

 

The ideal candidate will bring a background in multi-site operations leadership, a deep understanding of environmental compliance and infrastructure services, and a proven ability to drive operational excellence, and business expansion. We're looking for a leader who can shape and implement strategy, lead teams, and explore new revenue streams and acquisition targets to position the South Region for long-term success.

 

This position has a 50%+ travel requirement. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Operational Leadership & P&L Management

  • Oversee full P&L and daily operations for three regional sites (TN, LA, AL) including landfill, wastewater treatment, and marine fueling services.
  • Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Implement and standardize procedures to drive safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship.

 

Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Oversight

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (e.g., RCRA, EPA).
  • Oversee programs related to air quality, groundwater monitoring, gas collection, and leachate management.
  • Lead and coordinate environmental training and ongoing compliance programs for site staff.

 

Strategic Planning & Growth

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the region, in coordination with the sales team.
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive positioning, and customer needs to drive sustainable growth.
  • Support acquisition strategy for new outlets, fueling stations, and wastewater treatment assets.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

  • Serve as the key liaison for local communities and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead public relations and communication efforts to maintain a positive presence within surrounding communities.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on operational performance, financials, strategic initiatives, and compliance.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Finance, EHS, HR) to align strategic priorities and ensure seamless execution.
  • Drive collaboration to enhance the customer experience and deliver tailored, high-impact solutions.

Do you have what it takes?

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership in environmental services, wastewater, marine fueling, or waste management operations.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing multi-site, full P&L operations.
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, and acquisition integration.
  • Deep understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability best practices.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and regulatory bodies.

 

Work Environment:

  • Combination of field and office work; exposure to weather and operational site conditions.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crawl, lift, reach, push, pull, and sit for extended periods.
  • Extended use of computer systems and data entry.
