1. Profile

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient operation of all activities within the laboratory inclusive of health and safety regulations compliance and relevant quality assurance procedures.

2. Responsibilities

To be responsible to the Laboratory Manager for:

1. Perform routine and non-routine quality control analysis and interpretation using an array of equipment (GC, GCMS, XRF, IC, Bomb calorimetry, Titrations, Karl Fisher, Hydrometers and more).
2. Sign off and dispatch materials to customers, ensuring required specification is met.
3. Authorise the receipt of loads onto site.
4. Perform data entry and filing of reports to ensure that accurate analytical data is presented in the correct format and in a timely fashion to all relevant parties.
5. Carry out safety critical tasks / analysis required as per procedure dictates.
6. Maintain good housekeeping & cleaning standards within the laboratory.
7. To aid wastewater management.
8. Liaise and communicate results effectively and efficiently to other departments.
9. Perform calibrations and QC checks of lab equipment.
10. Ensure that non-conforming materials are communicated effectively.
11. Undertake project work to improve laboratory and plant processes.
12. Promote a high standard of health and safety within the laboratory.
13. Reporting of near miss accidents and incidents.
14. Make relevant continuous improvement suggestions to supervisors / management and monitor equipment performance.

3.0         Role

1. Laboratory Technician to support Laboratory manager with the above-mentioned responsibilities and other laboratory owned tasks that arise to facilitate the overall running of the site.

4.0         Essential Skills

1. Strong Communication skills
2. Computer literate, Excell & Word predominantly
3. Knowledge of SAP desirable but not essential
4. Hard working
5. Multi-tasking
