Household Hazardous Waste Technician

- Hourly pay: $25/hr
- Schedule: Work HHW collection events; may include weekends depending on event calendar
- Location: Work on-site at various community HHW event locations

What will you do? Make an impact!
As a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Technician, you’ll play a key role in helping residents safely dispose of materials that cannot be thrown away through regular waste channels. This hands-on role is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy active work, supporting community safety, and gaining exposure to environmental services.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Safely offload household hazardous materials from residential vehicles
- Sort and segregate waste by category following established procedures
- Set up, break down, and maintain work areas and waste handling equipment
- Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant
- Support event staff to ensure efficient flow and positive resident experience
- Other duties as assigned
Do you have what it takes?
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow directions and work safely in a fast-paced, physical environment
- Reliable transportation to event locations
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Able to lift and move containers of varying weights with proper technique
- Basic knowledge of or interest in environmental services, waste handling, or related fields (preferred but not required)
