The Opportunity

Join our team as an Approval Chemist in Merrillville, IN, where you'll play a vital role in managing waste streams for a diverse range of customers nationwide. In this role, you'll analyze detailed waste specifications, navigate complex federal regulations, and collaborate with a supportive, team-oriented group to determine the most effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Apply knowledge of EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations to accurately classify waste based on plant processing capabilities.
Identify the optimal treatment solutions for various waste types, including inbound and outbound loads and lab packs.
Manage a shared inbox, responding efficiently to high-volume inquiries from customers, customer experience teams, and operations.
Oversee nationwide customer off-spec waste approvals.
Ensure all waste is managed legally, safely, and cost-effectively.
Maintain thorough documentation of waste approvals and keep all records up to date.

Qualifications

Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, or a related science

Experience: 1-2 years industry experience preferred

Skills:

Computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work in a team environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
