Main purpose of job:
The logistics and planning manager will collaborate with and support the operations manager at Highland Waste Services (HWS). You will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the transport function which will include responsibility for drivers along with the planning & coordinating skip collections. The ideal candidate will bring experience within logistic management and demonstrate a strong ability to ensure the smooth operation of the daily HWS operation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage drivers’ collection schedules to meet customer requirements, including the logistics routing process for incoming and outgoing loads.
- Ensure that all vehicle inspections, services and MOT’s are completed to schedule and any defects are resolved and recorded.
- Investigate all incidents as per internal policies.
- Organise driver training and assessments where appropriate.
- Support in the management of driver tachograph infringements and working time directive inline with the site operator license and EU legislation
- Liaise directly with customers and suppliers to plan in collections and deliveries in line with the high standards set by the business
- Work with the national fleet department to manage vehicle repairs, lease renewals / extensions and development of the vehicle / trailer fleet
- Manage and organise training requirements for drivers
- Manage the driver rota and annual leave planner
- Hold / become the Operators (O) license for the HWS business
Do you have what it takes?
- Experience of managing transport operations and logistics planning.
- Computer literate.
- Self-motivated and able to adapt to changing situations.
- Commercially minded, able to challenge the status quo and create innovative solutions.
- Ideally holding CPC – national & international.
