Main purpose of job


To ensure the most efficient and cost-effective co-ordination of transport movements within the designated areas of responsibility (UK & Export) To ensure that customers are serviced in a timely and accurate manner and that their transport requirements are met in full. To ensure that all transport movements comply with legal requirements/legislation and maintain a good working relationship for the benefit of Tradebe. On a rotational basis provide out of hours cover for transport.




• Organising the routing and scheduling of transport movements to ensure the provision of the most effective and cost-efficient transport service across designated sites utilising return haulage wherever possible – using Haulier Order booking, Transport procedure.

• Work alongside hauliers to obtain best possible rates.

• Liaise with hauliers regarding transport movements, clearly defining the requirements of each load, and confirm these details using the Order Booking Note system on SAP as well as issuing all relevant documentation to the haulier before 5pm each day. – Haulier Order Booking procedure.

• Liaise with Production Administrator(s)/Production Manager(s) at each site to determine the exact customer requirements to ensure transport provisions are adequate and effective.

• To ensure that vehicle servicing is up to date and accurate records are maintained in order to comply with legal requirements and internal audits.

• To assist Transport Administrator with the raising of PO’s as and when required.

• Establish the reasons for, and place of, any transport delays, adding them to the Transport Order Pad and advising the Transport Team Leader and the relevant Area Sales Manager and Sales Co-ordinator of the charges incurred.

• Contacting all the hauliers the day before the planned collection to identify the time of the collection/delivery for the customer as well as the expected delivery time and date to the Tradebe/Customer site.

• Contacting the customer to advise which haulier is doing the work and what the estimated time of arrival, ensuring all the documents/labels etc. are in place.

• Transport Planning Spreadsheet updated and distributed to relevant sites with Eta’s

• To hit Syngenta KPI’s relevant to Transport Department.

• Review cost –v- allowance spreadsheet every month (deadline 20th of month) explaining reasons for any that have gone over allowance to Team Leader.

• To provide cover for the “out of hours” transport mobile on a rotational basis, resolving any problems that may arise for general transport movements, as well as maintaining Syngenta requirements, any of which may require returning to the office out of normal working hours to sort out paperwork issues and/or amending or adding orders on the system.

• To assist as and when required in providing holiday and sickness cover for other group transport movements.

• To work in the best interest of the company in dealings with customers, suppliers, outside agencies and the general public.
