We are looking for a Site Chemist to join us on site in  Fawley, Hampshire - with some occasional travel to other sites.

The role

  • As a member of the site chemist team, you are principally assessing incoming waste streams and allocating appropriate disposal routes safely, effectively and without adverse environmental effects.
  • You will liaise closely with key stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient process to develop and maintain the highest possible standards.
  • All employees are required to perform all their duties in accordance with legislative requirements and the company's objectives. The work is predominantly based outdoors on site, working in all elements.
  • Ensuring the correct labelling, segregation, and storage of hazardous waste, as per the site storage philosophy and updating the relevant stock control systems.
  • Collaborating effectively with key stakeholders daily to solve complex problems swiftly.
  • Following the non-conformance process should a material break our caveats or have another issue, confirming that the right stakeholders are engaged to achieve a successful resolution.
  • Ensuring acceptance and dispatch operations are in line with the company’s BMS, ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 systems.
  • Supporting and controlling the site’s analytical testing and assessment requirements including all EA/UU technical issues.
  • Identifying and reporting on opportunities and trends in the site’s technical control/analysis systems.

The person

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in Chemistry or a closely related subject. Candidates with equivalent experience in a related field will also be considered.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional interpersonal and collaborating skills.
  • Great attention to detail with professional, positive and team centred attitude

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience using a SAP based system.
  • IOSH Managing Safety.
  • FLT licence.
