Job description
As a Cylinder Technician with Tradebe, you will be involved in the day-to-day operations in our cylinders area. You will ensure safety requirements and process cylinders during your scheduled shift. The ideal candidate will have experience dealing with hazardous materials.
The role
- Assist Cylinder Operations with receiving cylinder loads, maintaining inventory, cylinder organization, and outbound cylinder shipments
- Sample both liquid and solid chemicals
- Process all cylinders into a batch reactor and analyze how reaction is occurring
- Process different types of gasses from toxics, flammables, acids, bases, and oxidizers
- Help maintain site's compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and any other regulatory agency for safe storage of all cylinders
- Work with the Gas Cylinder department with on-site customer projects and other special projects
- Proper classification, identification, packaging and labelling of hazardous waste for transportation and disposal
- Process regulatory paperwork to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and internal procedures
- Unpack hazardous material at plant, if necessary
- Loading, unloading, and operation of equipment for specialized projects
- Supports overall maintenance of Area 5NP
- Preparing specialized HASPs for projects.
- Maintain, care and cleaning of all equipment.
- Assist with chemical emergency responses, as needed.
- Support with large inbound loads in the receiving department
- Operate a forklift as needed
- Other duties as assigned
The person
- Bachelor's degree in science or related field preferred
- Hazardous waste industry experience is preferred
- Experience process all types of gases from toxics, flammables, acids, bases, and oxidizers is preferred
- Organized with data collection and able to communicate well
- Ability to read, understand, and apply common operational documents and SOP’s.
- Ability to work independently with little to minimal supervision and must extremely detailed orientated.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check, are required.
